Dulux Heritage – Language of Colour
Introducing the Dulux Heritage collection, a timeless collection of muted and atmospheric shades inspired the most beautiful periods in design history. Dulux Heritage use the finest quality ingredients to product paint that is luxurious in finish, durable in nature and a dream to apply. Â
The Dulux Heritage collection comes in two luxurious, professional quality finishes: Velvet Matt for walls and Eggshell for wood and metal.
Ash White
Ash White is a warm white with a hint of grey which adds softness and versatility. Think of dandelion clocks and duck down feathers and you will get a sense of this downy, cool neutral that is barely there but truly atmospheric.
Beachcomb Grey
Beachcomb Grey is a subtle mid grey that creates a feeling of modernity that is rooted in history. Georgians loved muted colours and softer shades such as this became popular towards the end of the period as everything became lighter and brighter.
Brushed Gold
Brushed Gold is a deep, burnished, indulgent yellow that creates a sense of opulence without trying too hard. With its easy going charm this shade is equally suited to fashioning a late Georgian parlour or zoning a statement area in a contemporary open plan home.
Chalk White
Chalk White is a cool, crisp white that speaks of Jasmine blossom and branches heavy with snow. This is a white with total neutrality but lots of character which works particularly well with the cooler side of the colour palette such as greens, blues and greys to open up and maximise your space.
Chiltern White
Chiltern White is a ultra-pale, warm grey that was inspired by the sweeping chalk hills of the Chiltern Valley. This chic and flexible neutral will bring out the best in any room with its smoky, understated elegance.
China White
China White is an almost pure white with just a hint of yellow to add a touch of sunshine. Modern whites can be striking and crisp but this is a gentler white that could beautifully partner any colour in the range.
Dulux Heritage Blossom
DH Blossom is a dusky mid pink with a slight yellow undertone, this gives it a genteel, mature quality unlike blue based more childlike shades. Towards the end of the Victorian era deep red gave way to more pastel tones such as this.
Dulux Heritage Oxford Blue
DH Oxford Blue is a deep, sumptuous navy that once upon a time would have been exceptionally expensive to create. Luckily for the Georgians, in 1704 Prussian blue was created, a far more affordable alternative to Ultramarine and a first step towards the decadent rich blue we enjoy today.
Flax Seed
Flax Seed is a wonderfully muted pale cream that captures the timeless quality and refinement of vintage pearls and lace that adorned the necks of fine ladies through history. Such discerning colours and materials still have a sense of rarity and quality that appeal today.
Green Oxide
Green Oxide is a pale, blue based green which is associated for many with Chinese Celadon earthenware, an interior collectable which was particularly popular in the 17th century but has stood the test of time due to its abiding colour.
Indian White
Indian White is an extremely flexible pale, warm white that captures the purity and optimism of a bright spring morning. A soft and understated addition to any room it has warmth but still feels light and airy enough to use in even the darkest of corners.
Light French Grey
Light French Grey is an elegant, pale, cool neutral with a hint of lavender to add warmth. Imagine a gentle mist falling over Scottish mountains covered in heather and you will gain an insight into this relaxing and poetic shade.
Linen White
Linen White is a delicate pale with the slightest hint of flesh toned pink. It brings to mind oil paintings by Degas, where Victorian ballet dancers take their bows in pink satin and lace and capture the elegance of this soft, youthful white.
Mallard Green
Mallard Green is a very deep, luxurious green. Such highly pigmented shades would traditionally have been very expensive to produce but today we can all revel in their deep, mystical qualities, thanks to modern pigments which achieve the same effect.
Maritime Teal
Maritime Teal is a deep, relaxing blue-green that connects you to nature; opening up a room and creating a wistful feeling of open skies and calm seas. Soft, uplifting blues like this were a favourite in the mid-Victorian period when tastes favoured strong, crisp colours that made a statement. Â Â
Midnight Teal
Midnight Teal is a very deep and seductive blue/green which lends a certain grandeur and substance to a space, especially if the tone on tone technique is used to bring walls and woodwork together with the same darkly intoxicating tone.
Olive Tree
Olive Tree is a robust deep yellow/green that was a great favourite in Georgian homes due to its muted tones and sophisticated hue. It has a smart air of tranquillity.
Pale Walnut
Pale Walnut is a warm, mid-toned neutral that brings a sense of the softest cashmere or the finest leather. Refined and understated this will become your go-to neutral to create an open and cultivated space.
Pebble Grey
Pebble Grey is a wonderfully warm, mid taupe that is softly muted and eminently usable. Taupe has long blended the cosy quality of brown with the refinement of grey to create a colour that is tricky to define but extremely easy to live with.
Piano White
Piano White is a fresh, clean tint with a yellow undertone that was inspired by the elegant cream tone of ivory.
Potters Pink
Potters Pink is a pale, ultra-feminine shade that encapsulates the fragility of Edwardian cottage garden blooms like the fragrant peony. Petal pinks were also a favourite for the interior at this time, as they added a light, bright, breath of fresh air which we still long to create today.
Quartz Grey
Quartz Grey is a mid-tone mushroom, refined and very elegant. This is the kind of taupe that can make its home anywhere as it’s an extremely flexible neutral, providing chic simplicity when combined with crisp white or take a supporting role with a bolder statement colour.
Ravens Flight
Ravens Flight is a luxurious cool black that captures all the depth and wonder of midnight star filled skies. A true Art Deco favourite, this darkest of deeps adds grandeur and glamour in equal measures to create a retro flavour or something strikingly modern like black on walls and woodwork.
Raw Cashmere
Raw Cashmere is a soft mid neutral with a slight green edge which gives it warmth and a connection to the natural world. This adaptable neutral which sits between sandstone and khaki will create a sense of quiet relaxation.
Romney Wool
Romney Wool is an immaculate, pale neutral and a safe pair of hands in any room. In terms of hue it is a very pale taupe, giving it a cooler appearance than a cream of the same depth and therefore much more flexibility regarding the colours it can be combined with; an all-round gem.
Sage Green
Sage Green is a mid-tone, blue based green that takes its name from the medicinal herb and cottage garden favourite. This shade has become a modern classic for interiors, complementing all tones of wood and also sitting comfortably against white or black in modern and classical homes.
Stone Green
Stone Green is a mid, grey/green that has a natural connection to materials such as granite and marble with its muted tones reflected in their flecks and seams of colour. This is a very sophisticated and versatile coloured neutral.
Swedish White
Swedish White is a crisp, cool white with the slightest touch of grey, making it the ideal partner to the blue and violet hues in the collection. This is the perfect choice if you like the muted quality of Lead White but are looking for something lighter.
Turtle Dove Grey
Turtle Dove Grey is a pale, silvery shade that adds the cooling quality of grey to off white, while still retaining a feeling of light and space. In the same colour area as Lead White this shade has a little more warmth and is perfect for creating a restful heaven.
Waxed Khaki
Waxed Khaki is a distinctive deep grey/green that combines the beauty and versatility of a cool neutral and the calming qualities of lush botanical greens. In the late Victorian period such greens came back into fashion as bolder colours made way for increasingly muted, restful shades.
With the Dulux Heritage palette at your fingertips, the only limit is your imagination!
