Simple yet sophisticated!
The Modern wall kit is suitable for a max span of 2m. The product can be cut to suit runs less than 2m. If the run is greater than 2m, additional Modern wall kits will be required. If you have any queries please contact our technical helpline on 0800 085 3475.
Please note:
All components should be inspected BEFORE installation commences for any damage, as Cheshire Mouldings cannot be held responsible for any damage caused during installation. We do not recommend the use of a sharp blade to open the packaging as this may damage the product.
Tools required:
- Tape measure
- Pencil
- Hammer
- Nails
Measure up 1000mm from the top of the skirting board and mark a horizontal line across using a straight edge. Check with a spirit level (Fig 1).
Measure the length of the wall and cut one strip to run across the top of the skirting and one strip that will be positioned with the top edge aligned with a horizontal line. Apply adhesive to the back faces of the 2 strips (Fig 2).
Offer strips to the wall and secure them with a hammer and nails. (Fig 3).
Measure the distance between horizontal strips at both ends and in the middle to check they are parallel. Cut 4 off vertical strips (Fig 4).
Apply adhesive to 2 strips. Offer the 2 strips between horizontal strips at each end of the run (Fig 5).
Mark the centres of both vertical end strips. Measure the distance between the centre marks and divide this measurement by 3 (Fig 6).
Example:
- Distance between centres = 1932mm
- 1932mm divided by 3 = 644mm centres for the other 2 vertical strips
From the centreline on the side vertical strip, measure and mark centres for vertical strips onto the top and bottom horizontal strips (Fig 7).
Measure and mark the centre location on each end of the remaining vertical strips (Fig 8).
Apply adhesive to vertical strips and offer strips up so centre marks on strips line up with centre marks on horizontal strips. Secure with a hammer and nails (Fig 9).
Measure and cut capping moulding to the correct length. Apply Fig.10 adhesive and offer onto the top strip. Secure with the hammer once again (Fig 10). Fill any gaps and joints with a decorator's caulk. Wipe off any excess with a damp cloth. Sand to a smooth finish.
You are now ready to paint.
